Robin Tatlow-Lord is a talented illustrator and regular contributor for Merge. A passionate Do-It-Yourselfer, Robin has melded her illustrations with a DIY bent in her most recent creation: “Sticky Lala”. The result is a chuckling little lesson in patience and perseverance as our heroine tumbles through her day “collecting” all manner of inconvenient, yet charming people, things and places.
In Robin's words the book, which is on display at CARCLEW youth arts centre in Adelaide, South Australia, is “an exhibition of straightforward illustrations, designed and drawn with the intention of being suitable for publication as a children's picture book, no irony or subversion of your usual'grown up' fine art present - except for the fact it's in a (sort of) gallery. Sort of - because Carclew is actually a youth art centre first and foremost- and, in the school holidays at least, more kids will come through there than adults, by a long shot.”

Whilst the book is available to purchase as a black-and-white zine, Robin’s brilliant illustrations are brought out in their full exuberance by her own hand which, at times, wields paint brush, scissors, pencils and crayons all in one frame. The result is a wonderfully detailed and living book of milky water-colour scenes and real fabric-cut clothes.
“Sticky Lala” runs until the end of the month at Carclew Youth Arts, 11 Jeffcott Street North Adelaide.
“Sticky Lala” colouring-in book/ zine, sells for $2.50 to kids and for $4 to adults.
