It's a refreshing prospect to see a movie about a superhero whose story hasn't already been told on the screen several million times before, and even more refreshing to see one starring Rober Downey Jr. who absolutely can't put a boozy foot wrong, god bless him. Here he plays Tony Stark, a hugely rich arms (not limbs) inventor / manufacturer, who through a twist of fate (and some good old Afghanistanian kidnapping) finds himself halting weapons development and suiting up as the titualr Iron Man to blow ne'er do wells up.
Director Jon Favreau keeps things at an appropriately explosionary pace, the effects are fantastic and the supporting cast all solid. Iron Man may not be in the same league as The Dark Knigh as a mature comic book movie - but dammit, it's good fun.
