Remember that kid you went to high school with who sat at the back of the class, drank ‘Woodies’ near the bus stop, smoked weed on the side oval, got into fights, told the teacher to fuck off, was beaten by his father, and hated the world – well a few years down the track we may well have found him.
Tornts 3rd album Hells Burn is a journey through the dark streets of Melbourne hip hop. Hells Burn is a difficult album to listen to with Tornts’ hostile lyrics plus looping of demonic beats - and if you can get through 10 minutes of constant yelling then you are probably an angry 16 year old or a skin head who is about to bottle me.
The production is ok in some parts and shows some storytelling skill on the tracks ‘Daily Report’ and ‘Another Day, Another Night’. By the end of the album I am left wanting to give Tornts a hug and tell him it will be ok – but I fear his reply would be a devastating right hook to the side my head.
