The rice crisis!

This absolute nightmare of a debate flared up in the Merge office when I was verbally decimated for my claim in the FreeRice story that there are about 3,000 grains of rice in one serving. Well, heresy, I say! But if you take a quick look around Google you'll see that the amount of grainage per cup is a matter of much debate.

So is anyone game enough to buy a sack of Basmati and get counting?

Basmati aint no jasmine!

But herein lies the trouble mon frere. Basmati isn't jasmine, nor is it wholegrain or wild!! We're just ill-informed as to the universal dimensions of a grain of rice - because there is none. Stop trying to institute this blatant "one-size-fits-all" policy and get on the level with the people of merge. I ask you: how on earth are we ever going to do chili con carne again?

True enough

Don't forget bloody short-grain Japonica while you're at it!

3,000 grains! You've got to be joking? Really? NO. I refuse to believe... maybe 1,000 or less.
