Is Cut Copy really that good?

After a week full of Cut Copy's latest offering: In Ghost Colours on Tripple J and Merge's most awesome review of a tin-shed full of colour I'm wondering whether people actually like Cut Copy or they just think they should like them... Don't get me wrong - I like 'em. But I don't really have a reason.

yeah more uninformed comment...

I know we're all for Aussie talent and if we must suffer a radio station in the car it'd be the  jays, but I've never been so confused in my aural allotment as I have in the past month with both Cut Copy and The Presets getting big air (Radio Time not hang time). Is it just me, or do Cut Copy and The Presets sound very much the same? I'd love to know how they get on in real life.

Ooo!

Sounds like a challenge! Now, you've gotten yourself in a bit of a tangle there Josh... Presets and Cut Copy sounding the same? You some crazy alright. The fundamental difference between the two I was going to say is the decade their sound comes from (the 'Copy = 80s; the 'sets = 00s), but I am revising this mid-sentence to say that it the thumpingness of the bass that sperates them (the 'Copy = thumpin'; the 'sets = thumpin' like it hurts). Both levels of thumpingness are equally dance-condusive.

I hope that clears up your troubled, fevered mind.

Yes

Joshua I can assure you that Cut Copy are most definitely rockin', dancin', hypnosis machines. I saw them at the Big Day Out in 06, and it was scheduled at the same time as Henry Rollins' "comedy" act, so there was absolutely NO ONE watching the 'Copy. Literally me and four other guys. But - let me tell you - we danced like there was no tomorrow, and there's nothing like a totally open dance floor and some thumping synth to get a body moving. Magical.

But then the dickhead security guard thought it might be "funny" to start spraying myself and four other dancers with the water hose point blank. It wasn't funny.

The Cut or The Copy?

After Merge's bungled attempt to abbreviate Ebenezer Place to the "Ebbo" when in fact it's known as the "Neez" I wonder if we're treading on thin ice when it comes to choosing The Copy or The Cut....

Anyone out there know either Dan, Tim or Mitch that might be able to get a definitive answer?

I like The Copy where to from here?

Oh and yeah this was a bit of a cul-de-sac forum thread eh? Cut Copy are awesome.
