 Remember that kid you went to high school with who sat at the back of the class, drank ‘Woodies’ near the bus stop, smoked weed on the side oval, got into fights, told the teacher to fuck off, was beaten by his father, and hated the world –
 
Well, not a film clip per se, but a docu-rocku-mentary of the ever-cool and super-hyped French electro pair that form Justice.

When the new Roots Manuva album landed on the Merge desk we couldn't stop looking at the cover. Everything about it was getting us randy, so we hunted down the creators, Oscar and Ewan and forced the two gun designers to divulge the secret of their awesomeness.

The Idan Raichel Project changed the Israeli pop music scene in 2002 with their message of love and tolerance. Merge caught up with the guy, who started it all in his parent’s basement: IDAN RAICHEL.

 
Although it sounds like something that only the Gods should have power over, it’s now possible to build a machine that will shoot giant bolts of electricity to create music.
To instantly clear up a couple of nagging mysteries: Sigur Rós is Icelandic for ‘Victory Rose’, and the title of their fifth full-length album translates as ‘With a Buzz in Our Ears We Play Endlessly’. Not that deciphering a little Icelandic will help you understand Sigur Rós.


What can you say about a “best of”?

The bass fades out and with a final cymbal crash, the crowd pulls out a last pitchy scream of appreciation. As the band file off stage the crowd follow suit, dispersing into clusters throughout the club. I head to the bar, just managing to beat the inevitably enormous queue.
